My mate Thierry does the same. He has a Pegaso for commuting to Heathrow
from his N.London flat. It's registered to his brother's frog address. He
rides like a **** but has never got pulled by the police or sent a speeding
    ticket.

Oh do come on Des, don't you find the trotting out of the old standard that
is "get a life" just a little unimaginative.

No, I don't know. I imagine that the dealer would issue a certificate,
which you'd take along with all the other docs. Page, or email, dog if
you want to know the ins and outs of it.

Hmmm, an interesting set, but kinda limiting. Wherever you are, the 30
minutes drive to snow & windsurfing is unrealistic - stretch it to an
hour or ninety minutes and it opens up the choice a bit. Even so, it
seems to me there's only three or four possible areas in the whole of
    France:

    1. As Champ said, the Alpes Maritimes, between, say, Nice and
Grenoble; could be the closest you'll find to your list, although I'm
not sure about the cheap flights bit. Plenty of access to snow, with
most of the French and Italian Alps reachable within a couple of
hours. Dunno about property prices - I suspect it varies a lot
depending on exactly where you look.

    2. The Pyrenees; not a lot of snowsports on the Atlantic side, but you
do have Biarritz; the eastern side puts you closer to the mountains,
but you'd have to accept Perpignan as your 'vibey' place, or go
further east to Montpellier. Oh, and there are now some cheap flights
from Toulouse, I believe. Low prices are fairly likely, I imagine.

    3. Haute Savoie. Annecy is a pretty cool place, with plenty of
watersports on its lake and plenty of choice of ski resorts. An hour
or so to Geneva, so plenty of flight options, I imagine. Prices not
too bad, although Annecy itself will be higher.

    4. Alsace/Jura. Nowhere to give you that 'Biarritz Vibe', but the
choice of mountain roads is staggering. Plenty of small ski stations
up in the Vosges or in the Jura, although very limited in scope and
snowsureness, but _lots_ of major Alpine resorts within 1.5 hours.
Price-wise it's very low up in the Vosges (you could easily find a
decent enough small house for less than £100k) and very high (for
France, but still cheap by UK standards) round the Basel area.

I think if I were in your situation with no ties to work I'd probably
go for option 3. As it is, I'm quite happy that I can have no. 4 and
    still earn a decent living[1] :)

[1] Sorry Des, is this being a 'loadsamoney' again?

    Easyjet fly to Nice
Of course - when he said windsurfing, I thought "sea" and not "lakes".
This would definitely be my choice.

TBH if I had to prioritise, boarding would be bottom of the 'hobby'
list as it's the one I'd do least often. Spending a few hours on the
road on a Friday night for a weekend of snow wouldn't be too much of a
    hardship.
