Seems to me that a lot more people are selling things as private auctions
these days. Is it just me that thinks "shill" whenever I see one, or am I
being paranoid? I don't see the point of them since they removed the ability
to see the usernames of the bidders.

Anything that goes over £250 automatically shields the bidders details from
    everyone bar the seller now.

Allegedly to stop other sellers from messaging people to see if they'd like
to buy their whatever that's the same instead, apparently.

What does that have to do with private auctions?

The point is, unless you're bidding on something that's going to finish
under £250, you can't see who's been bidding on whatever anyway, any more.

But you can at least see who wins stuff. Otherwise what's the point of a
    private auction?

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

If someone has got his mate or whatever to shill bid, unless the same ID has
been used to repeatedly shill bid on items they've been selling, you're none
    the wiser anyway really.
    Ask those who use them.

  10. You can't see the winning bidder in a lot of auctions now - whilst
logged out I went to an auction I'd won and my winning name was
something ebay had made up - like r***a.
