I have about £250 available for a camera.

I'd like a DSLR. Looking to get body with standard lens, bag, bigger
zoom lens (looking to get the equivalent of 10x zoom, or more).

Nikon seem to be preferred, but whatever is recommended, I'd like to
*not* have to pay an arm and a leg for extras and lenses.

Use: Beginner with previous experience of Praktica and Zenit SLRs, but
    made lazy with compact cameras.

    I've spotted these, on fleabay:

    Any (helpful) advice appreciated.

Also worth considering the old Olympus E-1 if you can find one, they are
still very popular and capable cameras. There is a smaller choice of
lenses for sure (how many do you need?), but you can get an adapter for
a tenner or so, and buy any legacy lens to use in manual mode. The 4/3
system gives you a 2:1 conversion against 35mm cameras, so an old 250mm
lens will give you the equivalent of 500mm in old money, which is about
10x zoom over naked eye view.
