    Hi there.
Does anyone know if Nero (or any other software) writes a date stamp onto a
CDR as it's burnt that can be read.
I need to show if a cd was burnt before or after a specific date.

Nero can do that, but... only for your own reference - you can make it put
any date onto the CD-R you enter in the appropriate field. Even if there was
a non-user-field written by the recorder itself, all it could take as value
is only what your system clock reports back, and since that can be set to
whatever you like before writing... I do not know of a way to do that so it
    could be called "evidence".

Maybe burn the CD twice, put one in a sealed bag, label it in an appropriate
way and deposit it with a trusted body? Or, in best Hitchcock style, mail it
in an envelope to yourself so you get a postal stamped date, and store this
    envelope (still sealed, of course)

It defaults to setting the stamp on the files to the date of their creation
rather than burning which , from our POV is a pain.
I was hoping there might be a stamp taken from the system clock on the disk
    as a whole
Ah , this is a cd that someone non-technical has already burnt , so they are
unlikely have thought about setting dates differently.

I'm trying to see if there is any stamp on there that says if it was burnt
before a certain date when they would have been entitled to do so , or
    afterwards.

If the date stamp is before a certain date it could be genuine or a fake ,
but if there is a date stamp after the date it would show to us that the cd
is not what it claims to be , but a later copy.

  4. Having just examined a few Nero-burned archive CDs and DVDs, it seems
the default behaviour is to date all the folders with the date of
burning, but the date on the files is the date of last modification
    before that.

    Handy , thanks.
Nero seems to default to "my disk" or it did on the test one I did earlier.
