    Days.

Look, I struggled along for ages with a PII 866 an' 384(wtf?)megoram,
frustrated at slowness/choppiness/crashiness - and then I started
saving my pennies for the first time in 30 years so I could buy
something. Life - well, PC-type life is now changed out of all
recognition and I /need/ to take the piss out of someone less
fortunate than I ... and who better than Robbo, the eternal butt?

So there <thumbs nose, blows raspberry>

    No more than expected.

Take the obvious solution, Rob - a nice new cheap CPU with a quiet
fan. A newer more powerful CPU will be under less stress and run
cooler in any case and it will prolly be less aggro than farting about
with fans and all the rest of it in any case.

Just because you choose to run a network of Russki Spectrums
(Sputniks?) thgere's no need to tar everybody else with the same
    brush, Comrade.

    Celeron? Pikey.
    Not dissapointed you then ;-)

Thought about a new CPU, but stripped all the fans off the system, including
the power supply one, cleaned all the amassed crud off them, replaced and
alls well. Much quieter. when I have some spare dosh I'll sort out an
    upgrade.
