I've seen someone do this using the cable that comes with the phone.

How do I set it up?

    TIA

At a guess: Run CD that comes with phone. Connect cable
    dial.

There're comprehensive instructions in the pdf manual that comes on
    the disc with the phone.

Bluetooth is the more elegant way of doing it though.

If your laptop has bluetooth you don't need the cable as the N70 is
bluetooth enabled, I use my fones (3230 or 6670) to connect via GPRS and
bluetooth to the web. If you're laptop has'nt got bluetooth, get a newer one
and stop being pikey ;) ... if it hasnt tho' you could use a cable.

You'll need to ensure your phone provider has enabled GPRS on your account
and you'll need to get the required settings from them.

Vodafone do a good "connectme" software. O2's is pretty pants and fails to
recognise most of their newer phones. But the workaround is to enter the
details manually. Orange and the others I guess all do their own software
but the easiest is to contact your phones support people and ask for help in
setting it up if you've not done it before.

Once set up it works a treat. So far I've only used GPRS and it works OK,
about the same speed as an old dial up modem at home. I've not used the
newer 3G systems, I understand they offer broadband speed via the phone.

  5. I've used Bluetooth to enable my mobile to use a traditional dial up
connection, and it worked fine - no GPRS needed in that event. 3G is great -
high speed, as you say. But can be expensive, especially if it drops back to
    GPRS.

true 'nuff .. only problem with normal mobile dial up is it's only 9600bps
which is less that 25% of the speed of a landline modem. I found this to be
    tediously slow.

On a personal note, not bothered about the costs, the 6670 is a company
connection and they pick the tab :)

  7. Yup, you and me both.
Get them to buy you a 3G card. :)

    Or buy a bluetooth dongle.

I've got one of those so I can talk to the phone via Nokia PC Suite.

I use a cable connection from my creaky old VAIO to my trusty old T68i
(been through an automatic washing machine) for Vodafone GPRS . A
Onespeed subscription helps to enhance speed and keep the data
transmission down (and hence costs), but only works if you use an XP
'Dial up' connection rather than Vodafone 'connectme'.
