I need something just to take notes during an upcoming holiday. A
    'travelblog' if you like.

It needs i) have a 'real' keyboard (i.e. no stylet stuff), ii) to be
cheap and iii) able to synch afterwards with Mac. The rest (OS,
Internet, backlit screen etc), I don't GAF.

Recommendations? I like the Psion. Does the Series 3 meet the above
    criteria?

    Ta.

don't forget if you get one with a stylus then most can be used with an IR
or BT full size keyboard, which is often better than the tiddly keys on the
    clamshell format

Nah, I'll be travelling light and by bicycle, so have no intention of
    carrying an external keyboard.

they're quite compact, or these http://www.virtual-laser-keyboard.com/

It's just the psions are a bit dated aren't they?

True, but I remember wanting one when they came out, but was too pikey
to afford it. Now I'm still pikey (albeit slightly less so), and I
quite like the look of them, all things considered. Plus they're small.
If I could be sure that I wouldn't run out of memory and that it'd be
easy to transfer to and from my Mac, I'd buy one on ebay right now.

The 'Transcriber' hand writing recognition on my XDA is excellent - far
faster than using a tiny keyboard.

Be less pikey and grab yourself an Asus Eee.

    <fx: googles>

Faaar too many features for what I want/need. WiFi ? Most of my time
'writing' will be in a darkened hammock miles from anywhere. Skype? No
thanks .. I'm going on holiday so that I _can't_ be reached. E-mail?
Internet cafés will do nicely, TYVM.

Besides, I've just forked out the 70¤ for the Psion 5mx.
