It's not only clear that Apple think you can, but I have demonstrated
(in posts that you have _hilariously_ (and studiously) ignored) that it
is a simple matter to do so.
    You're a stupid bastard.

    HTH.

Let me know how you get on and I'll read up when I get back from the

The answer to Bears question is iTunes will stuff all the 80 gigs of
music onto the 120G iPod and either a random[1] or a user controlled
    selection onto the 60G iPod.

It'll happily remember the selection for the 60G iPod between syncs
which makes it a breeze to add new stuff and drop old stuff.

Of course I'm in Bores killfile so he'll not see this answer :)

Hmmm, I think I'll set it up on another PC in the house.

Thanks for being the crash test bloke though.

I'll have to practice a bit more then. it's those.. Oh, I just want
to listen to.. <track> moments that are proving awkward, I know the
artist, the CD, even the track number, but I find twirling the
touchpad wheely thing a little unwieldy. Cursor keys would be easier,
    I think.

That's one option, yes. The current ipod is a 30GB one though, and
other than the design of the crap-o-wheel it's perfect.

Mine took plenty of hammer with me using the wireless connection where
we were stopping. I found the battery life was a bit short using it to
connect to the internet and I don't think you'd be able to use it for
a couple of hours browsing at an airport then expect it to go through
a long flight playing music but's no worse than my phone.

I've no complaints about ease of use or the cost of it to buy when you
consider what you're getting. I'm still trying to find the best site
for downloading free books but haven't found one with a good choice
    yet.

I'd be interested in knowing if and when you find one. AFAICS, that's
the big weakness of the iPhone (as well as not being able to sychronise
notes): no native PDF reader and/or ability to store files other than by
sending them to yourself in an e-mail, and then moving them to a
different folder on gmail's server. Even then, to open the file within
iPhone's mail environment, you always need a connection.

Their selection of free books isn't great but it's a starting point to
see if it's something you'd use rather than just buying one and then
deciding it wasn't a medium you wanted to persevere with.

Just download the book and read it.

your NYD post did flabber my gast

It warranted a sarcastic response but I managed to restrain myself as you
were on holiday and it was NYD. I hope you appreciate the consideration...

I discovered that you must be a bit careful when withdrawing the
earphones type" iPhone ringer (headphones)" into google e.g.

    <http://damonc.com/past/iphone-i-cant-hear-anything/>

sorted it eventually - but a pain in the arse to do

You said it above: you are something of a late adopter when it comes to
technology. We had the posts last year about your frustrations obtaining
the ipod then a post about using wifi in a hotel. It amused me that you
had made such a leap in a relatively small time. As your UKRM identity only
exists to entertain me that is a good thing.
I generally reserve my vitriol for people I've met IRL and have taken a
dislike to. There aren't many of them fortunately.

I realise that your definition of vitriol may differ to mine. In fact,
based on your responses to sarcasm from me and other posters I'm sure it
does. Hence, I tend to engage some sort of regulation in my responses to
your posts where I might otherwise post a flippant or sarcastic response.
You are not the only regular poster in this category, so don't get
delusions of grandeur about being special...
