oh, well, if you're putting restraints into which >500bhp cars we can
    choose from.

I think that, no matter how good they'll get, I'll always think BMWs
    are wanker's cars.

    No offence, like.

In my experience this is the universal opinion of anyone remotely creative.

Serious question : which manufacturer is the BMW of the bike world? (IYSWIM)

That is - who makes sporty bikes which are more function-over-form.

(That's not to say I think BMW's aren't handsome cars)

I don't think there is any direct comparison.
It's more a case of who markets their bikes to cunts. Ducati.
that's my point - there's nothing wrong with the /cars/

    I had a 1973 Chevy Malibu a few years ago. 5.7 V8, mine had a pretty awful
265 bhp, but there was an "economy" one which managed to get 145 bhp from a
    5.7..

    In
I've had a Galant V6 as a company car [1], and much as I was fond of it even
with the leather trim the interior isn't as nice a place to be as a 5
series, and I really don't like 5 series BMWs. The Galant was an easier car
to live with though, although it didn't land too well if you were a bit
    excessive over hump back bridges.

The "hold button" on the auto box was great though.

[1] worked in car hire for years, had plenty of company cars but rarely for
more than a fortnight at a time.

Not when you start talking about BMWs with pukka M or Alpina[1] badges
slapped down them. They then become proper drivers cars and out of the
reach of the wannabe wankers who buy/choose 318i[2] coupes and stick
    Halfords M badges on.

[1] I'm trying to think of the other BMW tuning house who do some
fantastic work on them, like sticking 5.0 litre V8s in 3 series.
[2] Have to be careful here, one of my exs has a 318iSE coupe E46, but
    she's a girl so it's allowed.

Lynx. I loved the look of the XJS based shooting brake they used to
    build.

When I was in the leather trim game I had close dealings with a company
just off the Goldhawk Road in Shepherds Bush who were contracted to Wood
and Pickett, the coachbuilding firm. I once saw a Ferrari Testarossa
being stretched and an additonal 2 seats being fitted. It was being
built for an Arab oil-man who had 3 sons. They built some fucking shit
cars beautifully. By that I mean their work was flawless, but the
concept and design left alot to be desired.

As an aside, I've owned 6 Wood and Pickett Margrave Minis in my time,
all very special in their own totally individual way. One had a
champagne cooler in the rear inner wing tub, another had a Range Rover
type twin boot/hatch door set up, but retained the solid parcel shelf.
    Extremely unique cars.

Hartge & Hartage are two others (with strangely similar names). I used
to have a Hartge 323 many years ago. Before that I had a 1602 with a
3.0l V6 Essex engine. Good fun that was.

Oz is a good place to get yank cars too (my ancient 5.9L Cherokee came
from there). I believe left-hand drive is illegal in Oz, so they have
lots of good cheap conversion kits.

I was naively hoping you'd say 'Honda' - and then I was going to pounce
theatrically and say "AHA! But *you've* had a Honda Fireblade!"
Is that really a good enough reason to deny yourself the car?

It's ok - I already know the answer.)
