FOAK (but ON topic): mini fag-lighter socket

On the Pan I have a 12v socket (with cap) that looks for all the world
like a mini fag-lighter socket, perhaps 1 cm diameter? It says Hella on
the cap. I'd like to use it to (a) power my SatNav and (b) attach one of
those little solar panels from Maplin to trickle charge the bike when
    not in use.

Does the FOAK know /exactly/ what it's called so I can JFGI (Hella plugs
and sockets turns up truck parts for 24v systems) or better still tell
me where I can buy some plugs (again Maplins draws a blank). Or would I
be better swapping the socket to a fag-lighter size one (do they do an
    outdoor waterproof version?).

    In
BMW use the socket, here's an adaptor to convert to fag lighter size.

Thanks for that heads-up. Powerlet seems to be a trademarked jobby that
does the same thing - not sure if it's interchangeable with/will fit the
    Hella.

It's a standard Euro socket. Used by Triumph, BMW & John Deere tractors.
    Hella is a brand name.

Hein Gericke sell the adapter. As do JD tractor shops if you are located in
    the country.

If you want a male plug to attach to your devices then you can get them
from chandlers as they are used in marine applications. I got one from Ebay
which I simply soldered to the bare wires on the Garmin lead in the
motorcycle kit. This then plugs into the accessory socket on my BMW.

    Thanks all, especially wessie.

Your lot even call it a Hella plug

and as i live in St Aubin there's a chandler literally just around the
    corner!

As others have said it is a standard. As well as Triumph, BMW and
    others, Mercedes also use it:

    If Maplin is closer:

    Norman's is cheaper though.
