My Sony CD player, which I bought around '91, plays them fine. Myabe it's a
    new invention.

It's all down the the refractive / reflective charactersitics if the
substrate AIUI. I had a DVD player once that would play CDRWs but not CDRs.

  6. I'm trying. Just about to plan a little holiday in Mallorca. It's down
to about 22 degrees here, so need a warm holiday.

Drop by one day. Oh, we already did this, didn't we?

  8. I had this with my DVD/CD burner when I up graded to XP.

MS drivers caused a problem with audio recordings to be played on a CD
player. The option wouldn't work. It would play OK on the PC but only
play the first 1.5 seconds of each track and then stop and say no CD.

You kind of get the feeling that the DRM has something to do with it.

    Well: "GIF! GIF!", then.
It does involve administrative overhead, that's for sure.
