Ive decided that due to the Pikey nature of the area we live in, a burglar
alarm is becoming a must have item.

Now, Id rather buy and fit one myself. Im not going to pay the exhorbitant
rates that the likes of ADT charge for monitoring, and I just want something
that will make a large racket and make the scrotes think its a good idea to
try another house rather than ours...

    Any recomendations?

Ive seen stuff by Texecom at reasonable prices... Anyone got any experience
using this kit?... Or Melcom kit?....

I've had a solar powered Response wireless alarm for around 10 years &
it's still going strong. I had to replace the bellbox battery for the
first time a few months ago. Wickes sell rebadged kits of various sizes
for not a lot of money.

Of course like most things they probably "don't make 'em like they used
to", so if you buy a new one now, expect it to last 13 months.

As good as the £X00 alarms, but £95 and easy to fit.

Spike secured a place in history by writing:
Shoebox, paint it maroon, coat or two of varnish, plausible wording of your
choice. Authentic wire run to a nearby window. Job done, 50p.

    Deterrent is 95% of it....
