Is there any way of mending them - its snapped round the pivot?

I've replaced it, but thought a spare might be handy

You are kidding right? OK - I guess you could wrap the old one with gaffa
tape and keep the new one as a spare (1)

    (1) J for JOKE throw the bloody thing away.

Yeah, stick some Plasticine on the end that's broken and mould to the
correct shape using the new one as a model.
Then keep it handy in case the new one breaks and so you'll remember when
the new one breaks you know what it looks like when new !

    Easy innit.

I thought it might be the start of an interesting line to sell on
fleabay - it was never going to go anywhere near my bike again, plus I
threw the other end over the hedge in disgust when it snapped.

Just wondered if they were actually fixable - honest guv

For other similar alloy repairs (non safety critical) you used to be able
to buy an alloy welding paste that could be smeared over the hole/break,
warmed up with a conventional gasgun and it would melt and amalgamate with
the parent alloy, it could then be drilled, polished etc, I used it many
years ago but feck know what it is/was called, no doubt SWK will be along
in a min to tell us.

The mind is beer assisted, and the body is about knackered so they
wont want that :) What we really need is someone who can cheat at an
eye test so they can drive trucks, coupled with my startling sense of
    self preservation

  12. Ah, yes. Something similar then... used to be in the small ads in the
back of car mags and MCN.
