I agree - when I was at Direct Connection, the UI for the software
installation CD was built in Macromedia Director, which uses
similar-ish technology to Flash, but is slightly more distributable
because it can be distributed under licence with the CD.

But yes, for simple interactive CD-ROM, Flash and Vanilla HTML is the
    best bet.

The Trembly One did say "put it in a pc" which was why I suggested
an html version, but I agree that a DVD would also be a very good
solution as it would be more universal.

Although, how many companies would have have a (standalone)
dvd player compared to a pc, or even a pc with a dvd drive in it
which actually had software on it to play a dvd?

I guess it's down to your target market but if Cane really wants
a DVD then I've got Roxio DVD maker which he can come round
and pick up if he likes - assuming he remembers where I live
as it's been far too long ;-)

I'm just surprised you didn't want the chance to ogle my wife's tits.

I didn't realise that it was not just the look of a gay that you
    were doing.

Nicely thanks. Yeah, last year I don't think I went on one UKRM
rideout. I'll try to do better this year. What about you?

Not from a developer point of view, it's not.

Developer toolbar - cookie manager, html/xhtml validation, proper
"find" for text in web pages or source, DOM inspector, table/form/field
"outlining", display of all form fields, a raft of add-ins for all
sorts of things you never thought you'd be interested in...

BUT there are some sites that don't "work" when viewed in FF..

That's about all I could think of. Apart from slightly ropey font rendering

    In IE 7 you mean?

I found my fonts changed on installing IE 7 - but not just in IE, which
    was slightly annoying.

It is, along with a number of other ideas they've borrowed from other
browsers. I think they're multi-tab interface is actually nicer than
the standard one that ships with Firefox, but FF has so many user
    add-ons a lot is possible.

IE also now has add ons but I can't see them ever taking off in quite
    teh same way.

It's the security changes in IE7 that make it worth installing IMO.

ONe thing that's _really_ annoyed me though is that I can't seem to add
Google as my default search (it was very easy on Beta 1 - not on Beta
    2) and frankly, Windows Live search sucks in comparision to Google
(it's too slow for one thing).

In the IE7 beta that I have, it's terrible, yes - but to my eye Firefox
    isn't that great.

  18. Piece of piss in Nero 6. The menu option comes up as a default when
creating an SVCD. Just add your mpegs, avis, etc and let it rip.

Why not just get some DVDs made with a menu?

  20. Can you not? Maybe I carried mine over from Beta 1. If I click
on the search-bar drop-down menu and select "Find more providers" I get
the option to add google (except it's already installed), although tonight
I wanted to add google-UK but couldn't see a way to manually add a URL. I
can then use the General tab in Tools->Internet Options to select a
    default.

My two installs seem to work slightly differently; the one at work
often forgets what the previous page was (especially if it's ElReg) and
the back-arrow goes back to the uberprevious page. Both it and the laptop
used to completely forget any history beyond the current login; now the
laptop does remember history but the PC doesn't.
