Looks like I'm to get a netbook soon, an Acer, (I believe it's to be an
Acer One A110) but which comes with Linux installed and on the recovery
    disc.

I'd like to put on XP home or Pro (I have legitimate copies of both)
but don't know if this machine will work with XP.

So will a 'standard' XP home CD work with this machine?
How easy is it ro install XP?
Any major pitfalls, drivers etc that await?

Before anyone says use Linux, I can't(won't). The software I want to
use on the Acer, Memory Map, is too expensive and already bought and on
    the laptop.

Or .. if anyone's got a decent spec netbook like, say, a Samsung N110
with XP/W7 installed and Bluetooth etc that they'd like to swap for a
Samsung R40 Laptop in very good nick, then let me know .. :)

    Cheers ...

I bought the Linux version as I had a Windows key floating around doing
    nothing.

You'll need an external USB CDROM to make it easy, else you'll be
fecking about with hacking a Win install onto USB stick.

Drivers are available on the Acer website - or I'm sure they came on CD
    with the machine.

Ah cheers .. Acer website, when I looked, though not too deeply,
basically said you can only install what it came with, feckorfff .. I
was going to wait till it arrives and see what it says if I registered
    it in Linux etc ..

I figured the external CD to be probably easiest, but thanks. ;)

It will, but acer put a slow as shit 1st generation SSD in the 110's,
the 150's with a hard disk are quite a bit faster loading and running
    XP.
