Later this month we're on a flight leaving at early o'clock from
Bristol[1]. Does the font have any recommendations for accommodation
    and parking near the airport?

    [1]To Pisa if you're interested.

  2. Himself stays at the Bowl Inn in Almondsbury at least once a week. Super
pub/hotel with really excellent local beer.

Pisa is the Italian Aldershot. Take day trips. Depending on how long
you're staying, you might want to visit Lucca (over the hill from Pisa
    and a lot nicer).

The advice seems to be that Pisa is good for *a* visit. We're camping
so the plan is to strike out a little. Generally we play it by ear
rather than a planned itinerary so all suggestions are welcome.

In the area: Lucca (the best preserved walled city in Italy, grown fat
on oil and knickers); Florence (can be oppressively touristy) is
reachable by train; Pistoia (home of the pistol). Slightly further
away: Siena is worth a look as are any of the smaller towns on the
Appenines. You're also not that far from Imola and Modena, depending
    on how you're travelling.

LOL. More like a seaside town (yes, I know it's not by the sea). How
about Weston Super Mare or Bognor or Skegness ?

Hell, if that's Aldershot, what is Genova ? :-0
Siena (of palio fame) is a reasonable throw from there.

    Cheers

    Paul.

The Italian airbornes are headquartered in Pisa. When you arrive by
train (or by air) you get a good view of their Hercs.

Ah. The only military place I went near was some in Rome and a massive
carabinieri station in Sutri (Roma Nord)

I don't think so. Saga had an age qualification of 50, but for their
Spirit of Adventure product they dropped it to 21. When someone under
40 comes through and needs an overnight due to their flight times on a
SofA product we still put them through to Holiday Extras and they have
    no problems.

You can phone Holiday Extras on 0800 902 0383. They might answer the
phone as Saga, but you will be through to Hol Xtras. I think they're
    24/7 now too.

Saga also have a contract with Hilton Time-To-Fly too. I don't have
the references on me but I'll forward them on if you use Hilton's.

Most of their decent offerings are on www.sagatravelshop.com

You will note that LastMinute.com is on there too for flights and
things. If you book it through the Saga website you will get the
guaranteed lowest rate (which is cheaper than booking the same thing
    via LastMinute.com direct.)

This is because Saga customers normally have a lot of cash to spare
and any company in their right mind would want to get the Saga stamp
on their products. Saga get a *huge* commission on any bookings taken
and the 3rd party it's booked through gets a reliable customer.
    Everyone wins, even the consumer.

I always use these guys for parking:

    Bristol Airport B&B
    Ash Dale
    Downside Road
    Backwell
    BS48 3DQ
    Tel: 01275 472 1259
    Mob: 07990 510084

They are one of the many farms that offer parking (and drop off and
collection)for a fraction of the price that the airport charges.
(approx £5 a day). I've never needed to use the B&B, so can't comment
    on that.

Let us know when you are arriving and if you are up for a few beers
    the night before.

Given that there are now age discrimination laws, are Saga still allowed
    to have an age qualification?

You do realise that's only a few miles from me? If he's likely to be around
on the 22nd, send 'im up for beers etc.

Hercs? Last time I was flying out of Pisa, there were shitloads of G.222s
around the place. They look very similar.

There's good reason to discriminate in this case.
