Agent allows for google groups little foibles and strips the sig.
Hardly, I doubt very much Tori would accept it from me given our
    history.
I believe the phrase I'm looking for here is 'whatever'.

Let's be perfectly fair about this, no-one's ever had a pop at me and
my sig sep, or lack of it since I started using google groups, so why
does Tori become a special case for abuse?

I've probably snipped that wrong, that's a later lesson

You know I only did that to annoy you.
    I'll stop now.
    Bad things might happen.

It's because we use google groups. Some newsreaders don't
automagically replace the 'space' that google strips out, some do.
Bear's newsreader doesn't and he lets you know about it. He doesn't
let me know about it though, which does rankle a bit - I always
thought I was window-licking special enough in his eyes to warrant
    some abuse, I feel cheated.

As long as I'm using google a small minority of people will have to
live with the fact my sig sep doesn't work, because I sign in to
google under a name other than my normal posting name and have to
enter "Lozzo" in for those who aren't aware of who "Speedyspic" is. As
it's a small minority I'm not too bothered, and to compensate for
their inconvenience - such that snipping a couple of line is - I've
kept my posting to an absolute minimum. As you're an infrequent poster
I wouldn't let it bother you. You only ever post to ukrm, and even
then it's only now and then so hardly worth spending money with the
Germans for newsgroup access. In this case google is your friend, I'd
say carry on as you are.

Your replies came in while I was typing mine out, that's why I didn't
see it. Lets be fair again, You've never mentioned the fact that it's
the couple of short lines that bugs you, not a simple name below the
sig as Darsy and I do.

Even Agent didn't remove the original sig and that's when you know for
certain it's a pile of shit.

I'm about to go and bang my head against the wall a few times to try
and lose the image that I got when I saw Tori's first sig mentioning
Bear and wrong 'un at the same time.

Being fair, her first sig (in this thread) was so fucked even Agent
failed to strip it out but I never worry about fucked sig separators
at the best of times so why should I care?

Why did you give up on XanaNews[1]? You were giving it a go IIRC. Using
a reader that does strip Google sigs would seem to be a good idea
    seeing as it's such a bug-Bear.

[1] I vaguely remember someone abandoning it as the spell checker
didn't ignore quoted text, but it does now.

Look why are ANY of you using Google Groups FFS?

If you don't want to pay the Germans Loz/Tori use news.motzarella.org its
almost as good and it's free.

The only excuse for using GG is on a PC which isn't yours or on which you
    cannot install software.

Tori if you are using a windows PC you can use Outlook Express but first
    install OE-Quotefix http://home.in.tum.de/~jain/software/oe-quotefix which
    formats everything properly.
Despite other opinions it works just fine, I've not changed in 7 years.

You must be doing it wrong. My Agent removes it, just as it does with
    every other <dashdashreturnr> sep.

As someone else pointed out, it's just that bear will insist that the
fact that his software doesnt recognise it is the fault of the poster,
and that therefore everyone using google grooup or outlook should
change, rather than that he should suffer the minor inconvenience of
removing the sig manually and just stop fucking whinging about it.
That or get a decent newsreader that does it for him.

The worst thing is that he wasn't even replying to the message, except
to point out the wrong sig sep, so he's made a specific point of
hitting reply just to point out that in doing so his software doesn't
    snip the sig.

  20. It's not really a web proxy, they've just set their NNTP server to
received and direct traffic over the one port that's unlikely to be
    blanket blocked by most organisations.

    Works for me.
