    'Ow do all?

Right, random I know but I have noticed that quite a lot of peeps here
seem to be fans of using flickr and my simple question is why?
As in, why is it different or better than say, photobucket or picasa
    online?

    aye innit.
    But so are the others?
I just wondered if there was some particular reason that I was missing
or is it simply a case of "that was the first thing I used to upload
pics on that was free" which is why I have a thing for photobucket

Photobucket and Picasa are a PITA to upload to ime. Flickr is dead easy
    and quick.

To be fair, i've always used PB, not really used the picasa upload
stuff but like the programme on the laptop for stuff. Flickr
(obviously) would seem to demand more investigation!

Eh? With picasa, you click one button, job done.

It does. You organise your folders, do your editing (if necessary) click upload
    and walk away.

I use PB. It's easy to use and generates IMG codes to use with forums.
Flickr might but it didn't last time I used it.

I actually quite like Picasa, but haven't used it in anger. Flickr just
seems to have a bigger community of photographers, which can be nice when
you're looking for feedback. Of course, to get that feedback you have to
splat your image over a myriad of groups, after which you might get lame
responses which include a flashing fucking jpeg award and no actual
comment from the lazy fucker that wants to tell you how great your shot
    is.

I think basically, flickr was first and therefore is most popular. Google
will have to do something particularly special to steal users away.

  10. I wasn't aware of the alternatives other than fotopic. Fotopic had
particular problems a couple of years ago when it disappeared for days
amid rumours it had gone bust. The business was refinanced but I
think people were spooked as a result of that. I don't like the
fotopic interface either and it can be tediously slow in showing newly
loaded photos. Zenfolio is very nicely put together and if I was to
move from Flickr for some reason then I might consider that.

I find Flickr easy and convenient to use and affordable. The social
aspect of it is quite nice too and the huge volume of photos means you
can find all sorts of stuff with relative ease. The only small issue
of late is the recent "deal" with Getty Images which is an absolute
rip off and incredibly restrictive in terms of exclusivity to Getty
and them creaming off 70% of any revenue from the use of an
individual's images. That sort of insidious "big business" tie up I
don't like but then Flickr / Yahoo are big business themselves so why
    am I surprised?

I think picasa allows comments not sure about pb I only use them both
for storage to be honest, also use panoramio or whatever for adding
    pics to google earth too.

Ive joined flikr and had a look about at the groups which is
interesting though. Mind you the bedford ones are quite dead looking :-/

Well *you* might be able to find out how to generate IMG codes but I can't
see it listed in the FAQ nor can I see a handy little button that says
generate codes or a little panel like what appears under my photos in PB.
But I might be missing something, it does happen now and then.

17 eggs a week from the 3 of them :)
SWMBO and the kids love just sitting watching their antics, the kids
are great at cleaning up the cage and house, feeding and watering them
and picking up all the chicken shit for the compost too.

Of course the dog is another matter, fucker will eat their shit if not
    watched!

Can't see anything other than the image on that page using both Firefox and
    Chrome
Nope nothing there other than the url for the image. What I'm after is
    something like
    http://media.photobucket.com/image/browns folly/petzl71d/BrownsFolly19-09-09018.jpg?o=33
and on the left you get various boxes with
    [IMG]

    in them.
