Flat battery?

    Is it ok to keep riding with a flat battery?
    I got on the other day and got nothing. Luckily I live and work on a hill so
    I can easily push start it. Is it ok to keep doing this, or will a dud
    battery cause some damage somewhere along the way?

    Depends if the bike is charging or not , if you have charge then I think
    it should be ok .

    What about the push starts? Does that wear out the bike faster than battery
    starts?

    Battery is only there to save you the trouble of cranking the engine over by
    hand or using a hill to start it.

  11. Ummm - and to provide spark (which is really important when your
    charging system is stuffed and you've still got 130 km to get home)

    [memories of trying to remember to not touch brakes or indicators to
    conserve as much battery power as possible]

    Errrr... wouldn't it have been easier just to unplug the wiring for those
    lights?

    You may actually want to use them occasionally, depending on traffic situation.
