A lot of bikers can only afford TPFT Champ.

Very true, and I did take your point. It's just that it was your point, not
mine. It's easy for a relatively well off biker to forget that the majority
have to run their bikes on a shoestring. Fully comp insurance is simply
    unaffordable to most.

I doubt that these days the majority do run bikes on a shoestring.
Biking's not primarily a mode of transport any more, it's a leisure
activity, how many old bikes do you see around?

I commute on a daily basis (when going to my office) and rarely see old
bikes on the road anymore (old is, say, older than F registration).
Most bikes are 'new registration format' sports bikes with the odd Pan
and Beemer thrown in for good measure.

It brings me a remarkable amount of pleasure that despite riding what's
one of the oldest bikes I see (B registered K100) it regularly
out-filters the new bikes on the road. Sooner or later it'll end in
    pain though.

I'll accept your knowledge of these things, I can only speak for what I
    see.

Mind you, I was at Rainbow motorcycles recently and the people in the
showroom didn't look that impoverished. Come to that the bikes I saw
where quite new between Rotherham and the south. Still, it was a
    Saturday.

  17. I'd say that was bollox, a minority maybe. If it's that expensive get
    something cheaper or don't bother.
IME there's little difference in cost between them. For my 2 bikes
IIRC TPFT is £40pa cheaper than the current ~£175 FC with business
    use.

    @individual.net:

Fair enough. I'm a bit out of touch with ins costs on modern bikes TBH
