he massive flash flood at Helmsley has hit the Farmyard site.

They are 99% sure everyone is OK, no one hurt, although there were 2
    people airlifted to safety.

The whole site has washed down the river. Hundreds of thousands of
pounds of equipment has washed away.

Most if not all of the Marshalls have lost equipment, I don't know
about bikes & cars-not sure on that one, but the whole site is under
    10ft of water.

The Farmyard Party is one of the biggest bike events in the North of
England calendar, usually attended by around 15,000 bikers of all
    descriptions.

BORG's post is a lot more on topic that 95% of the rest of the wibble on
    UKRM

I'm really sorry to hear that all the hard work put in over the last 13
years on this Rally has taken such a setback.

Being a well organised lot, MAG will have had proper insurance though, so
it remains to be seen whether the InsCo does the usual copout on flood
    damage or not.

    For example:
A mate was telling me his buildings insurance refused to payout on his
collapsed ceiling because it's "a common occurence"

Hmm, actually you'll find there are quite a few people on here who have
friends there, and I'm sure there are some UKRMers there, too

Quite a few who are nicer to meet than some of the bitter and twisted tossers
who hang around on the internet though.

Note the comment about camping on a floodplain.

It this had happened on the saturday night I suspect we'd be looking at
hundreds of casualties on the TV today.

Because, thankfully, there are plenty of nice people on this group too.
Naturally, you'll disapprove of my retalliation to the narrow mindedness
of your friend, but then, it came across to me as something more deep
seated than light hearted banter. So there you go.

Would categorize all the members of MAG and the 15,000 northerners who
went to the Farmyard Party as "fucking greebos and upside-down heads" too?

Seems to me that someone who hands out such high handed and sweeping
generalisations deserves a bit of stick, but YMMV.

  17. Don't worry, they are Motorcyclists, I'm sure someone will be on here
soon arranging another 'ride' to a cafe for scones and tea soon.

  20. Oh. Never mind the rest of the post where people alternately care /
couldn't give a feck, I met a fella this morning who was on his way
    back from this.

He's about 20 miles from home, a NADB member missing both right limbs,
and his 550 chop/sidecar has cracked a bracket, so the nose is resting
    on the ground.

By sheer fluke, my BIL owns a welding company fairly near, so we were
able to get him sorted and back on his way in well under an hour. He
was telling me he'd been at the Farmyard, and had driven through a hell
of a storm on the way up - obviously we now know what it was!

Bloody lucky for him then, all things considered.
