Brilliant info and well summarised, thanks. The bike is in excellent
nick, and has 15k mile on it for an 04. The price was right and as
long as I'm not tempted to thrash the living shit out of it every day,
    I suspect it'll last me a fair few years ( at ~ 5k/year on a daily
commute). As i said up there somewhere, I'll clarify the work that's
been done, but the bike sounded good when I took it on a run and when
I brought it back I listened to the engine sound in a carport and
    didn't notice any ticking.

You guys have been brilliant and I owe you beer.

  2. 15K is nothing. I'm sure it will be fine. They are in the main ultra
reliable. I travel back and forth to the UK on mine on the overnight ferry
from Dublin to Holyhead and I never give the bike a second thought. It just
    works.

Well I'll meet you halfway. If you're over on the IoM this year,
    perchance?

Really, I have to agree with Jeremy- just don't worry about it.

If it ever does pop up it's something that can be watched and
waited on, and it's almost certainly not going to leave you
broken down, not without many years of good solid service beforehand.
