Congrats, I suppose... ;) Looking for R6 myself, but it will be the 2004
model -- or a good deal on the 2003 one -- some time mid next year
    hopefully.

What you getting now? And why did you not like the R6 anymore?

Bad luck Jules - didja read the 6 supersport shootout in AMCN this week?
Food for thought if you're after a 600. I'm not quite sure why the Duc 750
gets in there, but the Gixer-750 doesn't (rather than the
    "very-due-for-an-update-though-it's-still-quite-decent" Gixer-600).

Serious question Manning ? The Duc 749 (and it's predecessors) is always lined
up with the 600cc supersports as they compete in the Supersports race class
together (same as they used to put 996's against the 750's until the market
decided the 4 cylinder 750s were irrelevant and started ignoring them)

It's all a bit silly and arbitrary.
Who cares what size the pistons in an engine are? (Do we care how big the carbies are or what diameter the
    camshafts are?)
It'd make much more sense to have a horsepower classification or, better still; a fuel-efficiency
    classification.
(And that's probably why the 750 twins are grouped with the 600 fours)

The R6 is great... on the track. However it doesn't fulfill enough of my
riding needs. Gonna get something all purpose, perhaps an Aprilia Pegaso.
We'll see - I'm in no major rush.

One day I may well get an R6 or similar as a track only bike, but currently
I don't have the time or the inclination to do enough track days to warrant
    it.

I even sold my race glass ;-)

    Nah what did it say?

I'm sure they all make great track bikes ;-)

    Blasphemy!! ;)

Well that's why I want the 2003/2004 model. From what I can see it's more of
the same only in an easier to use package, e.g. very smooth throttle
response across the range and a bit more sub 8k grunt from the EFI to boot.
So a fantastic bike on the 3-4 days per year I might get my bum to the race
track, and very pleasant on the rest of the day in normal everyday driving.

[Even at 1.90 I'm pretty comfortable on my CBR250RR and I like the riding
position fine - in fact I love how easy it is to throw about, just to put
things into perspective. Being very flexible from karate in early days must
    help I think.]

Those stunning looks don't hurt either... :)

It sure is a great looking bike, and the rush it brings from wide open
throttle at 14,000rpm is really something else.

But it just invites you to do silly things. No amount of EFI fettling will
change the fact that its a
4cyl 600! And the chassis dynamics are for the track, not the road in my
    opinion.

I've also done 700km days on it and enjoyed every minute. But I just feel
there are better options for me overall. I want luggage and heated
handgrips, damnit! I also want to be able to do 40,000km on it without
rendering it completely unsaleable. With 25,000 on it, mine had more than
any other R6 I've ever seen for sale.

Don't let me talk you out of it though ;-)

Try and negotiate directly with your ex.

Explain that there's no point in making the lawyers fat just so you
two can belt each other around in court.

You'll both be better off in the end...

(Doubly so if kids are involved)

He's tried that. Even made her an extremely generous offer. But she had a lawyer whisper in her ear
    and now it's getting ugly.
