I am about to get my first ride as pillion. I am exited about the
expererience but scared as I never been on a bike before.

Can anyone give me any advise as to what to expect and what to do (how to
hold on, lean, feet down etc)

When you have finished ask nicely "CIHAGM?", it much more fun up front.

To the grab rails, sissy bar, pretty much anything you can get your
    hands on except the rider.

With the bike by whatever amount you feel is appropriate, the rider will
compensate for too much/ too little input from you.

And don't fucking fidget in corners, keep it for the straight bits.

This and mounting/dismounting: not until you get permission from the
rider. Signalling is also his problem not yours, you are *just* a
    passenger.

And if he fails to tell you all of the above before you get on then
    don't.

Arms round the rider, hands on the tank.

Always look over the riders lower shoulder on corners, i.e. look over
the left shoulder on left handers and over the right shoulder on right
handers. Stops you trying to sit the bike upright on bends

That's gonna hurt if you fall off the back though...

If I am ever in the position, however unlikely, to be giving you a
pillion you can certainly hold on to the rider and I don't mind tight.

I like that one. I'll add it to me list, although I am not sure if it
would work with Big Tony on the front.

With Tony, you should look under his armpits...

Another good one is to get nicely settled on the back of the bike, and then,
just as the rider is lifting his left foot to select first, have another
little wiggle to get extra comfortable.

I hate that, both as a passenger and rider.

I find in both scenarios holding onto the grab rails, a lot more secure
    and doesn't effect the rider.

Now if having an effect on the rider is the object then that's a
different thing altogether, but for transporting or being transported
    then, IMO, grab rails.

There's a good chance you could be a movie star if you're under his
    armpits.

    No, no, no.

Sit comfortably for miles, and miles, of straight road, then, just as
the rider dives for the filter between two lanes of stationary
    traffic, decide you're not comfy.

    Gets a laugh every time.

Only really talking about on sports bikes, I guess. Being a pillion and
wobbling backwards and forwards under acceleration and deceleration is bad
enough but I don't particulary want to experience it as the rider. I find it
better with the pillion lent forward as they are better braced for the
different forces. Each to their own though.
Like I say, you could well be right for a tourer or something less
    race-oriented.

I tried that. Futile it was, my few pounds set against the nigh on half

If the pillion is wobbling backwards and forwards then they're not
holding on properly. There is no bloody need for them to be touching
    you, unless that's the intention.

With the pillion using the grab rails they should be braced and no more
affected by the forces than you.

To be perfectly honest if you're going for 'race-oriented' WTF have you
    got a pillion?

Although, I've gone "flat out normal Brighton-Pwhelli via
Rhayder-Mach-Porthmadog" and forgotten about the passenger, or at least
stopped worrying about them, mainly because they were holding on properly
    and not pissing about...

  20. Remember, you are expected to have sex with the rider afterwards.
