Always nice to get out for an early ride - may as well take advantage of the
clear roads and it's not too slippery out there :0)

For the last two weeks I've been telling myself I'm going to get out
on the bike for a bit.

Today, as with the last two weeks, I'll be doing nothing more than
hopping in the car to pop to the station for a travelcard.

    Three cheers for procrastination!

Likewise although I'm scared that MI5 are going to get me.
    Maybe tomorrow.

I went out on my bike today to pick up my rail tickets.
Course they'd only processed one half of the trip so I can back, but not
    OUT.
Heated grips fricking ROCK. I didn't test them at speed for long, but a
couple of junctions of mway at 90 seemed ok.
Welcome 2008, I have *PLANS* for this year.

287 quid for a month of delays and standing room only.

    Ho hum.

I nearly made it out, but didn't quite get round to it. With any luck
it won't be too bad at the weekend.

  7. Working for the railway is great in this respect.

I have free travel on Southern/South Eastern, plus hugely (up to 75%)
discounted travel elsewhere, and the best thing is, day trips aside,
never needing it and boasting to your pals who commute to London.

    Ho ho!

"By Wednesday an easterly wind from the near continent will bring much lower
temperatures and the risk of some sleet and snow for Eastern parts of the UK
at first, a similar risk further west later. On Thursday it will be cold and
windy everywhere with snow flurries in the northeast and later on in the
    south of the UK.
Through Friday and into Saturday we start to pick up the Atlantic influence
with a deep low near Iceland spreading wind and rain across all parts for
the first part of the weekend and it will begin to turn milder."

Disco dashboard in the car, or free practice on the board.

You also get free travel in Europe.

....and to demonstrate how fucked up the privatised world of the railways
is you don't get free travel in the UK (except on your employers bit).

    I do but that's a different story.

    Silly bugger :)

I gave up all that malarky. Shame it took me 6 years to realise
commuting into the city was wasting my life ...

mine's up from 105 to 114 quid. So that's over twice the rate of
    inflation then. Again.

At least normally I get a seat the whole way to London Liverpool
    Street[1].

[1] which is still bloody shut for engineering work - on NationRail's
website, when checking the service their advise is "not to travel".
Which is fucking helpful, I don't think.

My first ride of the year this morning, on the SOB naturally, and it was a
bit bloody cold and wet. It was still nice, though - the 6R's running
really well now that the ram air is wired up the way Mr Kawasaki intended.

I had to wheel the prilly out of the garage the other day to get to some
stuff and it was lovely - so small and light. I found myself desperately
wishing that the roads weren't so covered in shite so that I could go out
    and enjoy it.

If I get the right train (8.00 to Paddington) I can have an entire
carriage to myself. They link two Adelantes together and despite the
front one being rammed, the back one's almost completely empty.

The trick is working out what time the 8.00 is actually going to
    arrive.

Sure, but wasting my life by my own choice is better than sitting on
an overcrowded train for an hour and paying for the privilege twice a
    day.

And an understanding landlord is always a bonus :)
