Well, not done a lot of bimbling but......

Smooth responsive power, no flat spots.
Very quiet, was expecting some chain noise but as yet none.
Pulls well in all gears from 20mph and no grumbles from either the gearbox
    or engine.
Screen could be a little higher as I am quite tall, but for shorter
individuals I reckon it would be fine.
Luggage, Nice size. Seems a little *rattly* on the mounts. Will investigate
and see what could be improved. Will fit a Givi topbox after I sell the
    SOBeemer.
Lights are fine, although I will fit some FOAD wattage "Blue" bulbs in 'em
as they improved the illumination extensively on SWMBO's Vitara.
Front brake lever seems to travel a way before anything significant happens,
and it comes up on a pump or two, so may bleed brakes and see if it
    improves.
Jiggled around with the pedals to get the positions right and improved my
    gearchanging. (Kept getting false neutrals)

Thus far I have still got the grin from yesterday and can't wait for a dry
day to see just how well I can handle it.

    <snip>

Don't bother with the 'Blue Super Duper' shite. These lamps produce *less*
lumens than a standard lamp of the same wattage. Fit a pair of Osram
'Silverstar' or Philips equivalents. These are xenon-halogen types and
produce an honest ~30% more lumens for a given wattage.
If you do choose to go for the higher wattage types, make sure you fit
relays or your switchgear may burn out.

Good man. I was just about to post exactly wot you did.

Having had the RF burn out the headlight wiring to the connector with
a 80/100, I now have a 55/60 Osram Silverstar in there and it performs
very well - perhaps even better than the 80/100.

  5. Which model have you got? the old 147bhp (claimed!) twin headlamp model,
or the later 107bhp BMW K series competitor?

As for the brakes - mine does that. I suspect they all do, sir.

Now wait for the fuel bills. These bikes are thirsty.

I had a pannier escape at speed, because the locking latch popped open. It
was much improved after I packed it out with slivers of bike inner tube. If
you want a topbox, I've still got mine - proper Triumph one in BRG, locks
onto the standard Triumph rack, like this one but green:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10486&item=7925237425&rd=1

which you can have for nowt if you can get it collected. There's a HBoL
    which you can also have.
I bled the brakes on mine within an inch of their life, and they were still
crap. Stopped the bike okay, but only after pulling the lever back to the
    bars.

Now that I *will* have. I like a top box or convenience.

    Whereabouts are you ?

    Ah!
Well I'll try bleeding them and see what happens.

The twin headlamp model. Late 98 on an R.

I must say I am impressed with the performance though.

What's an average MPG figure round town and on a run ?

    Robbo, where are you?
I'll be visiting the parents in the next week or so and can easily
detour via Platty to get the box.

Depending on where you are this may help bring it in your general
    direction.
