first collision

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Peter Windridge, Mar 9, 2005.

  1. Me going round roundabout, car pulled out, I slam on brakes, turn to
right (after checking for cars coming), go into car diagonally. CG125
forks a little bent, very apologetic driver and me a little shaken.
Motorcycling is a continous learning experience. In hindsight I should
have held my ground as I think I could have maybe swerved behind the
    car. Live and learn eh

    Yep. Wonderful thing hindsight, eh?

That was a cheap(ish) lesson though.

Did you get any witnesses? Only the driver may get the bill for the
repairs and decide that "the bike was going much too fast and I had
    right of way".

Wicked Uncle Nigel emerged from their own little world to say
Nigel, he was riding a CG125 (makes sign of holy pushrods). It's more
likely that the car driver thought he was stationary.

<G> Bad man, that's his pride and (slightly bent) joy you're talking
    about there.

I've always thought that trying to loose as much speed as possible
before the crunch is the priority. Depends on how much warning you get
    though.

I've always thought hoisting up the front wheel & aligning it with the
side window so you stove in the driver's head is the priority.

Come to think of it, loosing speed quickly or lofting the front wheel on
a CG125 is not something that you can do very easily.
