  4. That would be amusing if you could take it as well as you dish it out, but
    since you can't, it's tragic.

    Julian Bond says:
Maybe I already mentioned this but...

If you are ever within a days drive of Birminghan,
Alabama, USA, you have GOT to go to the
Barber museum. 900 bikes, including a Patton.

Almost all of the bikes run. Many are brand new
examples of bikes the museum thought significant
(first FZ750 5 valve Yamaha, my first money making
race bike is one example of such), stacked in
    "bookcases" up the walls.

Organization is a little lacking but the result
is that you go from one bike, thinking WOW,
to the next bike where you are awed that
they have one of THOSE TOO!

The vintage days festival was marginally good,
the MX track sucked and the swap meet was
more a swamp meet but all was forgiven
    when we did the museum.

it may simply means that since ilmor has not finalized its rider choice for
07, mccoy saw an advantage in going balls out.

it most certainly means no one of the top riders in the top teams was
pushing hard, otherwise mccoy's ilmor would not have come as close to them.

it sounds so out of character i know you must be cynical. we all know mn has
never been wrong, and that since the times were taken in spain some sinister
communist agenda is at the source of it.

I noticed that it was also out of order in the standings

6.- Nicky Hayden Repsol Honda 1.33.03
    60 laps

    ----
    ***7.- Garry.McCoy IlmorGp 1.33.20
    40 laps ***

    ***8.- Alex Barros Pramac D'Antin 1.33.18
    60 laps***
    ----

9.- Valentino Rossi Camel Yamaha 1.33.78
    59 laps

How is 1.33.20 faster than 1.33.18? It's the lines with the ****'s

there is something wacky going on there.

    DaveW remembers:
It was a parking lot with banners mapping out a
nice flat featureless "mx" track. Nobody but
riders were allowed in the area, crew was allowed
to watch from the paved road nearby. You couldn't
see the track or hear the announcements (well, you
could hear the roadrace inane commentary guy) so
you never knew what race was yours. To get
to the track there was a one way hillside with
a corner worker at the top and at the bottom.
You pulled up to the hill, waited for the
flag guy to clear the hill of traffic going
against you, then went down/up to the track.
Then you sat and waited for your race since you
couldn't sit up at the trucks unless you were
willing to risk missing your race which you
couldn't tell when it went off.

    No, I'm not bitter.

wet all day Sunday and the old guys on old bikes
    looked sloooooowwww.

When I was there it had just been re-paved, and I was fast as hell. My
best lap of 1:53 was only 27 seconds slower than Mladin!

OK, you made me spit out some beer.

That's pretty good. My smile muscles hurt.
