Firestorm Servicing.

  1. The hunt for a big bike continues.

I've notice there are a lot of cheap Honda Firestorms about.

Is this a fairly straight forward bike for the home service?

Are the carbs/shims easy to get to without removing
    radiators/excessive bodywork?

I'm chiefly looking at Bandit 12's - do they have any hidden vices
when it comes to doing the valve clearances [1] / carb balancing?

What about Guzzi 1100 Sports? Easy to service?

    Thanks in advance.

[1] I know they have adjuster nuts – question is how easy are they to
    get at?

For simplicity of service the Guzzi has it hands down. Better than a
Firestorm in most respects I should think. Something of a work of art IMHO
though it does weigh 220kg dry mind.

  3. No
But the rest of the bike is made of cream cheese.
Dunno, but they are italian, so will have electrics made of spaghetti
    and ravioli.
No problem, now **** Off there's a good chap ;-)

  4. Care to elaborate? I guess the tank comes off. Is it shimmed? Do the
    cams have to come out?
Specifics? What do I need to look at. I've heard the shocks go off but
the ones I've looked at seem to have held their finish quite well?
What are the cheese like things I need to watch for?

    Thanks for the help...

Is the filter still buried in the sump on the Guzzi's?

Perhaps Tallbloke will correct me but I think it is, there's a mix now IIRC.
Not an all bad idea, takes moments to drop the 'pan, little longer than
taking the sump plate off a K BMW and you get the sump nice and clean each
    time. For the lazy www.harpermotoguzzi.com/outsider.htm
