OK, there's been a few, too many to mention.....

Not for track use, so, give me a cheap (ish) steering damper for a 97
    blade.

Dude, I have to ask, are you like 17 or something? It's just... you seem
really excited about, well, everything. The Internet, your Honda (ffs),
    hating wogs (double ffs), etc.

Heh. I was carded in Sainsburys earlier, for the first time in 12 years
or so. Checkout girl couldn't decide whether I was 21 or 22, and as
their policy is to check ID for anyone 21 or under, she played safe.

Maybe I should shave more often.

OK Hilda, is there a problem with my original post? I can't see it
    myself.

Think you're a funny man, please.

Rascism: Always one side of the story.

I really can't see your point. Explain, please? Easier to 'fit in' with
the rest... thats you cocker, not me.

For what it is, it's OK. It's quicker than I thought it'd be, and the
chassis/suspension isn't nearly as lethal as it was since I wound up the
    preload front and rear.

On the downside, the engine's OK but not exactly overwhelming and
nothing about it screams anything more than "own me until you can buy
    something else."

Bear in mind that my last few bikes have been ZXR400, Bandit 1200 and
ZX7R, so the SV650 was never going to feel quick or planted. It fills a
gap, I'm sure it'd be fine as a first bike, but if you've ridden
something faster [1] , you'll be kinda disappointed.

[1] I'd ask for a go on various ZX10Rs, but if it means getting back
onto my SV, I'd rather not, iyswim.

You seem to be starting every other thread atm.

    "I got a new bike."
"It's shit, I'm going to get another bike."
    "I got another new bike.
    "It's great.
    "I rode it during daylight."
    "That was great too."
    "I might clean my bike."
    "And my wheels."
    "Hendrix, what a guy!"
"Should I replace the head bearings?"
"I think it might need a steering damper."
"I just had to brake a bit."
"I just rode it in the dark."
    "It was a bit scary".
"My other bike's a bit wobbly."
"I think my bike needs a service."

    Calm down.

The bloke that's buying it has a restricted license anyway. He's not
expecting ZZR1100 performance, but 'rideability' is key. He's also a
tad on the short side. The bike he's looking at is restricted with
    paperwork etc.

I keep telling him to just take the big test, he's a very good rider,
    but you can't tell folk.

I find the BMW harder to ride than a Fireblade, tells you summat.
(maybe i am shite after all)

    Cheers

    Yep, I like clean wheels.
I stand by this 'til the day I die.
    Well, help me then.
    I think i might.
I hate brakes, but they do stop you.
    I FUCKING hated that.
Get a new one then dummy.
No, it does & I'll pay for one.
    No, make me. :)
Oggie, meet me & then critisise me please. Words mean nothing. I'm no
racist, but I see racism in everyday life in Bradford. The stats speak
for themsleves. I'll let you find them Hilda.

Please bear in mind, I *always* smile whilst posting.

    [snip review]
Hmm. Restricted, I dunno. My limit is mostly self-imposed after events
last year. It's torquey enough, certainly, but and it'll nudge 140-odd
on the clock, but that's with a full-power 70bhp bike.

13 years ago I had a TZR125. First, as a learner, restricted, with the
valve closed. Plenty of midrange (for a smoker), all died at 7k and
12bhp. Then I passed my test and turned the valve. **** all until 7k,
then straight up to 23bhp but 'rideability' was one thing it didn't have
(in spades, and that was one of the reasons it was so fun to ride.) Then
I tracked down a servo kit, and it had both.

I guess what I'm trying to say is "I'm reminiscing. FFS, get him to do
his test." If you're going to ride something that makes about 30 brake,
make it something fun (eg. RS125) or ride something bigger. The main
reason I got an SV rather than something fun but impractical was so I
could chew up motorway miles on the french run. If it weren't for that,
I'd have bought something stupid but cheap.

I'm shockingly bad. Doesn't stop me overtaking people, or wondering why
everyone rides like a slowcoach. All the SV has done, other than remind
me that I lost all confidence I had after things went wrong, is point
out that if you can't ride for toffee there's no substitute for a
    wonderful chassis.

    Au contraire. Words mean everything.
    " "

Is that meant to be some kind of excuse? I went to a uni open day in
Bradford. The bloke showing us round said, and I quote, "If you're not
racist when you come here, you will be by the time you leave." So I went
somewhere else, with a similar ethnic profile (Leicester) but nowhere
    near the attitude.

Oh, right. Well, if you're smiling, it's not racist. Profuse apologies.

Sorry, I don't what happened last year, i'm kinda new round these
    sheets.

I'm a big bloke, I cannot ride small bikes at all, not in size either,
I mean power. I know big bikes 'tempt' like nothing on earth. But
imagine the horrible overtake & they pull out, no power & it's ARMCO,
full power & you are gone.
Never been able to do the 'small' thing, pointless on a bike.
Exactly, power is nothing without control.

I did not enjoy my trip to work on the BMW today, full of cunts in
stupid cars all over the gaff. Same day on the blade, gone, not even
thought about. I love bikes & I love cars too, power is needed once
    required.

Fair enough, that kind of attitude ain't gonna help. I used to work in
Leicester, it is not in the same social demographic as Bradford. The
colour of your skin does not make you anything other than that colour.
Folk have got me totally wrong, but that IS my fault & I accept it.
Social patterns are changing & if you don't believe me, look at the way
the Bradford riots have been portrayed on TV. I saw the whole event
from my front room. There is no margin for error when you are there.

Please, don't think I'm a racist because I despise what happened to the
    place I loved. I didn't do it.

  19. Then why did you say it? Were you trying an alpha male 'look at me I'm
hard' swagger as you entered new territory? Or do you use those sort
of phrases in your everyday language as well as in text?
Hence my asking, would you use those terms in a conversation with
friends, family or chatting to a bloke in a pub or betting shop? If
    not why here?

I just lost it, I cannot stick that bloke & everything he stands for.
Makes me no better than him, I know, but at least i know.

You can't tell me you have never said anything you regretted?

It's time to draw a line under it & move on, I see worse from 'the
regs' but no-one says anything about that.
