Finished. Well, sort of . . .

  1. It's ready for its MOT

Just can't get a tickover. Static timed it using the flywheel plug
hole. New 32mm Amal. I can't seem to get it to tickover smoothly at
anything less than a rate that's little bit too hectic and the pilot
jet is the only thing affecting things there. Try for less revs and it
kind of has quite a long cycle of revving and slow-w-w-wly dying.

Still, it sounds and feels like a lot of fun and I can't wait to get
    the thing rolling

your, in a good mood (for now)

Nice work. Did you keep any pictures of waht the bike was like before you
    started and throughout the rebuild?

  5. Lovely. I always thought the Victor Special was one of the nicest
    looking dirt bikes made.

    That's nice!

I have an ex-WD B40 in boxes, somewhere, but I haven't got the space,
ability or cash to rebuild it. Pah!

  9. It seems a bit long. For now I've routed it for function, but will see
if I can make it a bit less obtrusive as I go thru the fettling
process. I've got bigger fish to fry right now

  10. If you ever want to shift it, let me know. I quite fancy a B40 as a
    trials project

  11. Day 1 (Friday): Miles = >4, got the VS MOTed, got insured, rode it for
a short while before the MOT test and it wet sumped. Got it home (with
its MOT :) The tester just praised it a for a while then printed the
form out!!) and removed one of the two crank breathers I'd put on. My
reasoning was that the one way valve on the (10mm) breather had created
such a vacuum in the c'case that it was hampering the return side of
the oil pump. Rode a couple of miles that evening and all fine.

Day 2 (Saturday) No bike business today

Day 3 (Sun) Rode about 6 miles to the start of the West Riding Trial.
All fine. Pootled about over the moors for 1/2hr and started to get a
bit of misfiring, blue smoke and a little uncertainty at the rear
wheel. Looked down and its peed its pants again. I was about 7 miles
from home with half my oil not in the tank and a very hot engine.
Didn't want to risk the slightly oily back tyre so I called Bob and got
a van ride home. First thing I'm gonna try is getting rid of the
remaining (6mm) rocker breather as this could have caused a negative
pressure build up in the c'case.

Strange other problem is my kickstart has gone really stiff. Looks like
I've gotta get into the gearbox.

It's a sunny day so I'm gonna take the rest of it off and mull over my
    problems.

The joys of living with Victor!
