Huh, I'm a child of the 60s and not too happy about it at the moment.

You are such a sweetheart, I'll pay you later.

BTW, is her ladyship at home?

I currently have the mind of a 16 year old and the body of an 80 year old
as I've spent the last 3 days shovelling soil around the back garden and
    into a skip.

I've shifted about 4 tons of soil so far, and I'm waiting for the man to
turn up with my 5 tons of gravel - I've been waiting for the delivery
since 8am, and I hope it turns up soon as I'm planning on having finished
the patio before it gets dark.

Other than that, and a feeble attempt at brick laying I've not done much
    today.

<man's just arrived with the gravel - time to go knacker my back that
    little bit more>
I'll give her a ring later.

The mind of a 35 year old with the body of a 16 year old would be
    better.
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with you that a good soak in a hot
bath, followed by a massage, wouldn't put right.

Hard to say since Head Office scattered to the Four Winds, but I
wouldn't be surprised to find that I was the only one.

Of that year's intake, I know of four others who are still there.

On my current (soon to be, anyway) team of 16, there are four who've
been there longer than I. Four of us have had the same 'phone numbers
since we went to DDI in the mid-eighties (?).

In our Ops area (180 staff), there are at least another ten who've
    been there longer than me.

When I joined, there were three old buggers who'd got a job
immediately after being demobbed in 1945.

    Well..... twas interesting.

    There was a competency-based interview. I didn't "dry up", nor did I
wibble on about shite, either. Judging by the reactions of the
interviewers, I think it went well.

Next was a role play. They reckon it was based on one of the most
stressful situations that would crop up during the job. Given that I was
thrown in at the deep end, I reckon I did OK. I felt a bit drained
    afterwards........

The final bit, was the psychopath^H^H^H^H^H err... psychometric tests and
a personality analysis thing. The psychometric stuff was piss easy.

The personality wotsit was computer generated.... It appears I *do* have a
personality... I appear to be the reincarnation of a very pissed-off
    Ghengis Khan! ;-)

It appears that there weren't many applications initially, so they
increased the wages. Including shift allowance, Ill be getting a £6Kpa
increase (gross), if I land it. That's about a 50% wage rise, for me! ;-)

I feel fairly confident, but I'll just have to see if it pans out.

Given that I'm a B+ blood type, which is most commonly found in Central
Asia[1], I'm probably one of them.

  20. I had an interview like that once; stroll round the garden looking at
plants and blethering about all sorts. I was wondering when he'd get
round to talking about the job when he just offered me it out of the
    blue.
    Coleman's has that effect.
