Took myself a little inventory this morning while I drank that first cup of
coffee.. For those of you who might recall.. I recently purchased myself one
of those gucci and pricey coffee makers.. That sucker is damned near bullet
proof, as far as making the perfect cup of coffee.. Matter of fact, it looks
impressive.. Clad almost entirely in stainless steel, that damned thing is
imposing as hell.. just sitting there on my kitchen counter top.. By george,
anyone can make a top notch cup of coffee in that damned apparatus.. I'm
    downright proud of that thing..

Eased out on the patio, where the Green One is perched (parked, if you
prefer), carrying that cup of coffee, of course.. Dang.. I thought.. I
forgot to take care of that trip oil I drained out of the Green Vulcan..

At about this time, one helluva boom hit and the sky lit up .. Whew.. this
is going to be a good one.. It was then, I noticed all the clouds and how
dark it still was.. Those boomers bounced around pretty good and for a
considerable length of time.. I did manage to handle that drained oil and
get it captured so it would be safe.. hmmmm.. That mexican would eat me
alive if I screwed around and messed up her patio again.. The Green One and
me have been on probation on her patio since the episode where I kicked over
the drain pan and ruined her flower planters, several months ago.. Sheesh..

By the time I could beat the retreat.. it commenced to rain.. Sure tickled
me to see all that wet stuff coming down.. We need it so bad..

Now, I'm sure that all this water is coming at an inconvenient time for all
the weekend warriors who like to ride on saturday and sunday, but what the
hay.. there's other days to ride.. We need this rain too much to consider
    it a loss, or something..

Luckily, the trip oil is replaced with a brand new oil filter.. the old oil
is disposed of .. And, there is a fairly decent wax job on the old Vulcan..
That's what I call pre-planning.. That chrome (there is considerable on the
bike) is gleaming and bright.. Yup, that is pre-planning, I'd say.. The
Green One and I are ready..

About all that is left to do, is spend about an hour in the dealership while
they install that belt conversion kit that I've got ordered..

For all that are so wroght up about losing their Sunday ride, due to this
little rain.. the Green Vulcan and I will be headed west to Arizona to check
on our old friend, Buddy Helscel, real soon.. Should be gone for about a
week.. Failing that little trip, there will be another run to Mena, Ark..
during the first week of October.. Then too, I can always be persuaded to
make another Mexico run to Guadalajara.. lol..

Actually, that trip is in the planning stages right now, and should be ready
for announcement in the next few days.. There is a lot of riding left to do
this year, so don't be discouraged about one weekend of rain.. Regards
