Probably not. I'm 5'8" and 136 pounds. My neighbor who saw me for the
first time in my helmet thought I was a teenager. I'm not sure she was
looking at my butt though. I wish she was cause she's real cute and
single. You know what I really like about the small bike? Almost
everything. Mileage, light weight, low insurance, not real high torque
so I'm less likely to fly off the back of the thing. The bike cost
$3,990 new. I can stop outside my garage and walk the thing in and out
easily. If I ever did drop it, I know I could pick it back up. These
are big things to me. To go a few miles per hour faster, I would need
to pay a lot more money for everything...initial cost, gas, insurance
and maybe even my skin, if I am right and you are more likely to get
hurt on a faster bike. I just drive my car on the interstate cause as
you know with a light bike, not only speed is an issue, but the big
trucks give you a blow job every time they pass. Now if I relied on my
bike for transportation by interstate, then I would buy a bigger bike,
but for fun, I prefer the smaller bikes. Always have. Another thing.
Being kinda short, I can barely reach the pavement on some of those
sports bikes that are 32 in. off the ground. My bike has a 28 in. seat
height and that's just fine. I was looking at the Suzuki s40 which
adds some more power and not a lot more wt. Heck, it's turned into a
nice day. I'm going out riding right now. Talk to y'all later. dkw

  3. 5' 8" and 136 pounds and *you* are characterizing Harley riders as
    porky? LOL!
At 5' 8" and 136 pounds, how could she not have noticed your butt? It
probably obstructed her view of everything else. ;)
In other words, someone who would never go for a 5' 8" 136 pound
    guy...
    Especially the price, I'm guessing.
If you were in any shape (except for round), you could pick it up.
Even a small woman can put a Harley back on its wheels. Of course,
you gotta know how - something newbies don't have a clue about.
Signs of an inexperienced rider, talking a lot before acquiring much
    knowledge there...
Be honest. It's all you could afford anyway, right?
That sure doesn't mesh with why you don't like Harleys, since their
seat heights are way lower than that. Lower centers of gravity too.
So long as you stay off the highways, right?

Yeah, I'm just bitter because it's snowing where I live. <g>

whatever he wants to, for whatever reasons.
(dwk)..I got back into riding 6 yrs ago, and did it on a 600HondaShadow.
Little by Little I graduated, to larger bikes, and now I ride a
Valkyrie. I also am 5'8'' (or less, in my older age), but out weigh ya'
some. I weigh in at 180....I might be one of those big Butt riders, come
    to think about it.

==='JayT continues:==''I would venture to say, that probably the
majority of Riders, do it for fun, not transportation. To me it is a
sport. Dont bother me atall, when I go somewhere in my Truck. I like my
motorcycle, but I also really like my Truck. However, I do ride on the
Interstate, and yes, it would be dangerous ''for You'' to ride the 250cc
out on the Interstate, in my opinion. Your size bike is great for local
rides, and especially around your shopping area.

I'm wiry for my size, which means I can run away real fast if I need
to. When yur puny, you learn to avoid asswompins by outmaneuverin the
other guy. Bein a vegetarian, anti-hunting, liberal Democrat, and
livin in Texas, I am always wearing my runnin shoes, just in case.
Slow and steady might win the race, but fast and wily avoids the
    asswompin. dkw

  6. Oops. Sorry for the previous post, dkw. For some reason I read 236
    pounds!

Well, you're too small and scrawny to ride a man's size bike then...
    ;)

==good answer. I've known of smaller fellers, who were bad asses.
    However,
I do agree with ya', that your choice of a smaller Bike to get bac into
    ''riding'' is probably 'best.
Mr.dkw,I hope you hang around on this group, and not let Pender and Road
    Slidding Don, scare you away.
    (wink) Because:
I bet a mess of ''BJ's Hotlinks'', that you..Mr.dkw.. will eventually
trade up to a larger Motorcycle.
I've seen it so many times.....
However, if you dont 'ever' ride with other Riders, then the ''more
power'' deal, might not affect you.
When i was riding my 750Shadow, with my local bunch.
I was okay, till we hit the two lane highways, and the beautiful Ark
    hills and Mtns.
My 750, (mind you, I was riding twoUp), struggled to stay up with the
    1100Shadows,a Magna, and a coupla Harleys....so.......not long
    though....I got me a 1500FlatSix.........
Riding with a passenger, is not an option for you, on your 250, but,
your woman may not gvie a hoot.
Mine is almost always back there, giving me instructions.....And I love
    it.
Actually ''Riding 2Up'' could be another txmoto Topic, may-be
