Verdigris said.... I still see the same customers as a customer myself. Plus, alot of my mates have them.
I've got American friends who still talk about their two weeks holiday and after 20 years service they get three. That smacks of living to work not working to live.
Possibly why the (Shoei) documentation says to remove inner visor and carefully clean once a week. Hmmm.
It really has transformed my helmet. (!) I can keep the visor closed the whole journey - about 1/2 hour commute.
Speaking with friends of mine in California there seems to be some flexibility with the ability to accrue extra time of (time in lieu) and also working bank holidays rather than taking leave. They figure they can get in the region of 4 weeks in reality; which is the same as the UK legal minimum... less bank holidays.
Somebody (can't remember who) said to me recently that it's practically mandatory to take all your sick leave by the end of the year.
Yes, I think this is true, and not just the IT industry. I know that some of my US colleagues, doing essentially the same IT-based role, are on slightly higher salaries than the Swiss ones with a similar tax burden, and UK employees are on slightly less. But that's on a very small sample and may not be statistically significant. Only if they're allowed to. In practise I don't think many do.
You can come and watch it in action in my office, if you like. The fact that it doesn't seem to work doesn't deter them, either. Which is more than a little odd.
Came across that at Marconi. A useless fart who was in charge of a section of ATE Division would always be in early. He would stand with his jacket off, some where between the main entrance and the Divisional managers office door as soon as he saw the DM park his car in it's slot. Similar sort of thing would happen in the evening.
They didn't used to approve of any staff with facial hair at one time, I don't know if that's still true.
[EDS] Bastards. We don't get a pen. I did once read somewhere that our managers can requisition various 'recognition items' which are then billed against the department code - so that never happens either. It's *so* rock and roll.
I heard that about them. http://frogcircus.org/burmashave/1948/wild_men_pulled.html -- Dave GS 850 x2 / SE 6a SbS#6 DIAABTCOD#16 APOSTLE#16? FUB#3 FUB KotL OSOS#12? UKRMMA#19
