Finally got my hands on a Uvex Wing RS today. Sadly it wasn't for sale (Lozzo, the bloke at London Bikes Shop is shutting down). The owner was hapy to let me have a look at his (phnarr) and was just as complementary as everyone else. So the final question before I order one fmr Bikestyle.co.uk is this Is the RS version worth the extra ton? or shall I get the plain Wing and put the rest towards beer? -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l (Really) Sprint 1.7 Triumph Speed Triple: Black with extra black bits www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk

It offers a higher degree of protection should you need it. I wouldn't pay what is asked for a plain Wing, I'd go that little bit more and get an RS IIWY. In fact, I did
I am serioulsy tempted to do just that, as long as it lasts. Only downside is that even bikestyle appear to have none in stock :< -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l (Really) Sprint 1.7 Triumph Speed Triple: Black with extra black bits www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk

Roger that -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l (Really) Sprint 1.7 Triumph Speed Triple: Black with extra black bits www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
For info. I have had a Wing RS for two years. It's an OK helmet with a stunning double glazed visor (an extra I think) but it doesn't stand up to wear and tear that well. The lining has worn off where it contacts my cheeks (5 o'clock shadow might have something to do with this) and the soft rubber sealing strip at the front has started to tear. The rest of the helmet is fine though and neither of these defects are that serious. Just not up to Shoei/Arai quality IMO. Jeremy Robinson Ireland

I had one for a short whils last year, really liked it. Liked it even better when it kept the head together after hitting the floor rather heavily. It got buggered and I didn't even get a headache. Double glazing was brilliant even with the specs. Bought mine at Moores in Hemel. Brian

The cheekpads in one of my Uvexs wore prematurely, I contacted the importers who kindly sent new ones under waranty, but they too have started to wear. I'll take them apart and retrim them in something a little more hard-wearing. It's handy being able to use a sewing machine.
