  1. Well, I expected to floor the accelerator in third and
not worry about the bike in front, but Andrewr gives
reasons why they might only go as fast as a car.

    No.

Am I the only one that shouts "For ****'s sake, son!" when seeing
bikes sitting in slow traffic, not making progress?

    Nick Finnigan :
Chances of it being 400cc are minimal, much more likely 600 or 1000cc,
with either 100 or 140bhp at the wheel, with a mass of 250Kg including
    rider, i.e. 400 or 560bhp/tonne.

35-55 for any sports bike will take around 1 second - 22 meters.

Loads of crap riders about, just like there are loads of crap drivers
    around.

Nope. Can't see the problem. It's not like a Fireblade etc will hold
you up once the lights change is it?

Yes, in many ways. If you don't understand, I suggest you go and buy
a bike, learn to ride it properly and find out.

    [of overtaking on double-whites]
Ah, yes, but they're for the other 90% of the population who don't posess
even the slightest hint of clue when it comes to using the roads.

I was on the M40 yesterday in the car on my way to exciting down-town
Solihull. I saw plenty of useless nobbers both going there and coming
back, but the one that "impressed" me most of all was the 20-something
chick in the VW Bora who was texting away quite merrily, and glancing up,
occasionally. So occasionally was it that I managed to sit at her 4
o'clock for at least a mile. At 80mph.

She finally broke her attention away from here 'phone when I drew parallel
to her and she finally noticed as we approached a bend.

Anyone else see "Britain's Worst Driver" the other night? The Scots bloke
who, with his missus riding shotgun and an advanced driving instructor sat
in the back, taking notes, not just overtook on double whites, but double
whites on a road with /major/ hidden dips. In a shite-old Cavalier.
Oh aye and they're on the increase, too.

In fact the "Thirteen Bends of Joy/Death" are end to end DWLs, now. I
think the painters got lazy and just did the lot.

I agree in principle, but there have been several head-on collisions locally
(undulating road) and the innocent guys seem to die more often.
