Too true. As a steady rider I am sometimes scared shitless by some bloody sprotsbike rider tanking past me. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
Heh, car drivers fall into 2 categories: Those who see a bike in their mirror and pull over to give more room, and: total cunts. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
<snip> This was my previous MD's favourite phrase. I did point out, during one board meeting that "at the end of the day, the shops shut and the street lights come on, so what's your fucking point?" This was not well received. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
Heh, I tried to hand crank over a Morris Minor with the timing 180° out. Nearly broke my wrist it did. -- Dan L (Oldbloke) My bike 1996 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr M'boy's bike 2003 Honda NSR125R Spare Bike 1990 Suzuki TS50X BOTAFOT #140 (KotL 2005), X-FOT#000, DIAABTCOD #26, BOMB#18 (slow)
I just think that running on main beam is going to piss (some) people off, and it's really not necessary. If I had to chose between filtering "safely" (i.e. using main beam, in your terms) and not filtering, I think I'd chose the latter - what right have I got to dazzle other motorists?
Ditto. Showed ozmick the way to filter on the M4 coming back from the Corden weekend. Mighty glad I didn't have the earpiece still in with him commenting Cheers, Paul.
I like filtering in moving traffic, but filtering through standing traffic at speed gives me the willies. Too many cages get fed up with the wait and switch lanes without warning, so I find it tenses me up quite a lot, as I expect the unexpected, for mile after mile .. ! Cheers Paul.
wrote I really don't like filtering at all but it simply has to be done or i might as well take the cage. Filtering through standing traffic and not *constantly* monitoring and moderating my speed is what gives me the willies. Not my experience. at which point I do the moderating bit of the exercise. A whole minute? Not sure I would want to stay that tense that long these days.
Try filtering on that road overnight on Midsummers Day. The hippies have a party right there on the road while trying to get to Stonehenge before dawn..
been You don't RC. I met you at the first services on the M4, and we rode down to Bristol, met Mat, and then practiced going round a roundabout, then we met Champ, and me and Mat swapped bikes, Mat rode like a ****, and then the exhaust fell off my Bandit. You rode like a fairy, all day.
In the car I tend to get in the way of inconsiderate buggers who leave main bean on. FFS in daylight you don't need lights unless you're a pouf and the use of full beam is adequately covered in the HC.
