    The Terminal.

The title says and explains it all and it should be fucking terminal too.
Complete waste of time. Plot of a Russian bloke played by Tom Hanks stuck in
the arrivals lounge of an Airport. That's it. He speaks about 20 words with
a Russian accent in the whole film. Why did they use Hanks and not a Russian
bloke, would have cost less and made the film no worse. Crap, avoid at all
    costs.

    The Village.

Marvellous. Cant say much about the film as it would be a real spoiler. I
thought it was going to be a slasher horror film but its far from it with a
real head turner of an ending. Really good.

    Open Water.

Marvellous. Not as good as Jaws but better than Deep Blue Sea. Really makes
you feel for the two buggers out there. Somewhat unrealistic in the manner
they were left but non the less very good, especially for a 100,000 quid
    budget.

    In
La Tasca in XScape Milton Keynes.

Brilliant, highly recommend the cured meats with a white Rioja.

To finish a Cafe Con Leche and a cheapo spanish brandy. Lovely.

Also the Blue Orchid in Aspley Guise do a wonderful (if expensive) Thai
meal. But the affordable and decent house wine makes up for it.

Interesting opinion. Generally this seems to shine but not everyone agrees.
I came out in two minds about it. At least this seems to come from this US
balance of opinion on the film. On the whole I thought it was worth a watch,
but not my favourite film of late and not the best value for money.

Personally I found this review a bit funny:-
"I longed for something -- anything -- unexpected to occur. What I wouldn't
have given for Wilson, the Cast Away volleyball, to float past with his
bloody 'face' print grinning at the pair!"

I've just got back from seeing it.

I won't pass comment for fear of incriminating myself.

Maybe- just *maybe*- because Tom Hanks is a gargantuan box office draw.
Not sure that a "head-turner of an ending" is a good thing. A chick flick
for girls who like the idea of being scared but don't actually want to be.
As for the storyline, too many blatant clues give away the twists far too
early. Wait for it on tv.

I once saw a film with him in it. It involved a toy shop - utter crap. I
have seen the adverts on the telly; I suppose these are the best bits. Who
would watch such telly trailers and then go and watch the film?

Lat week I saw I Robot (1), this was acceptable entertainment.

    (1) I know the rest of you will have seen it months ago, but I live in the
    sticks.

I thought The Terminal was fairly entertaining, in a Castaway stylee,
but not the best film I've ever seen and quite crap for Spielberg.

Which I wouldn't describe as "utter crap". It's not Bergman I grant but
    harmless entertainment.

I wasn't that taken with "Catch me if you can" and this looks a bit too
sugary - even by Speilberg standards.

Especially given the real life person Hank's character is based on is
absolutely hatstand. Not even in a mildly amusing way.

Must be really brilliant, Riojas are actually known for their red
wines... which are the better choice for cured meats.

Suitable whites for tapeo would be those from Galicia: Albariño,
Ribeiro, Turbio... or from the mother of all countries for tapeo
(Basque Country): Txakoli (serve them dropping the wine 40cm above the
    glass).
