The Hangover. Far, far funnier than it has any right to be.
<thread hijack> That's as maybe, but has anyone see The Moon. I read/heard some reviews, and really fancied it. Imagine my dismay on finding that it's on 'limited release', which means it probably won't get to me out in the provinces. Shit. So, can all you metropolitan types go and see it so that it's judged as successful, and gets a wider release, please.
What's it about? [further thread hijack] We watched Gran Torino the other night. Now that was excellent.
ORLY? <Thinks> Martyrs was, err, interesting[1]. I have a stack of Korean horror to get through courtesy of my brother. Will let you all know. [1] http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1029234/
Not yet. Actually almost the same thing here. Only showing at one theater in Palo Alto. Hopefully we'll get to see it before it ends.
Bizarre. All those sweaty bodies, complete inability to hit pause while you go for a piss, turn the volume down to avoid premature deafness, or rewind the bits you didn't quite follow. It'll never catch on, I tell you...
Ya, RLY. It's one of those films where every scene brings something you seriously weren't expecting. For that reason, if I explain what's funny, it'll ruin it.
Is that the version where you get to choose the ending? I saw an article in the Stinkypendant last year and the image of the bloke atop the world caused me several sleepless nights, so I avoided the film, until Sunday. Mesmerising ... and a great soundtrack too. It's going on my wishlist.
Won't it b showing at a slightly less out in the sticks cinema? It's showing in East Didsbury and in Bolton and Bolton's not known for it's wide range of tastes. A skin flick and a Kebab is a night out around here. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
It's great living down here in the tropics. It's quite slow paced, and don't expect any 'action' or irritating overly suspenseful sequences. Actually, it was quite refreshing in that respect. Sam Rockwell was good, as he tends to be, and should be, given the screenplay was apparently written as a vehicle for him. Also, they don't use shit CGI for everything as is usual - it features proper models which look far more realistic (think Red Dwarf, etc). The plot turns quite predictable after a certain bit, but it's still good. It put me in mind of a feature-length episode of The Outer Limits. Recommended.
