To be fair to The Village, the twist about the creatures wasn't
*the* twist. The twist was the other one, right near the end.

Which wasn't impossible to spot, but far better hidden than the
nature of the creatures.

Heh, so did I. I just came back into the fold about 4 years ago. Like
finding an old pair of comfy slippers it was.

 

I guessed the first but not the second.

This was what was so poorly put across. Upon realisation of the twist
my first thought was 'aircraft' which they even had a lame excuse for.

 

I kept thinking "what about aeroplanes", but of course they came up
with a pathetic "reason" for that.
