fibre glass petrol tanks

    Are they legal on pre 1990 machines? my guess is no however a second
    opinion would be welcome, and while I am asking questions can anyone
    recommend an insurance company that will insure 'non listed' machines
    (500 single)

    Ovenpaa was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
    I think they probably are, at least plastic tanks were/are. Germany
    was the only market I know where Bimota had to use metal tanks because
    they wouldn't approve the plastic ones.

    I heard that plastic tanks were illegal in the UK until Triumph lobbied
    the Government to allow them when they were working on the Tiger. OTOH
    my 1979 Fantic's got a fibreglass tank, but that was a 'special' from
    new so maybe has a different set of rules.
