    Hog fascinated us all by saying...
    Pip's 'rusting pile' is a VF750F of 1984 vintage. It's a weird one too,
    cos it doesn't rattle, when it runs. Also it has factory cast alloy
    wheels cos it's a California model, rather than the rivetted together
    'Comstars' that we got over here
    That's an FL model, 1990 verison with single sided swing arm and a host
    of other differences. The earlier version, especially the last of the
    breed - FJ/FK model - were certainly sportier and just as reliable as any
    other subsequent VFR.

    Bizarrely, the CBX750 also had an RC prefix. RC17, ISTR.
