A load of us, 14 to be precise on bikes are wanting to go to Cherbourg in
May on the Ferry, probably from Poole but no worries if not, does anyone
have a way of getting across the water cheaper than the 85 odd squids per
    bike they want?

We dont want to buy the ferry, just get there and back.

    Thanks

Which ferry company? I have a contact in the group bookings department
in P&O (hence the £30 ferry fee, albeit Dover-Calais, for this year's
    French Run).

I like Brittany Ferries but they are expensive compared to others.

£85 is not too bad though, considering the length of the crossing,
especially if the price is on the fast craft.

Do you have to go to Cherbourg? LDLines service from Portsmouth to Le
Havre is okay. Usually a lot cheaper than BF. I usually use the
overnight service on the way out and return on the late afternoon
boat. That way, I can ride/drive to/from the port when the traffic is
    quiet in the UK.

Agree 100%. I've tried and tried to do a deal with them for French
    Runs, but they aren't interested.

  6. If their business goes down a bit this year, they might change their
attitude. Otoh, such companies allow themselves to drift up their own
arseholes and wonder where it went wrong.
