Ferked battery?

  1. Hmm. Whipped the battery out to recharge ( I know, Optimate should be
the thing but I didn't ) as when I was trying to charge it in place it
seemed to take some charge, then lose it.

So, the batterys out, I topped up the cells a little in case the
low-ish levels wasn't helping, and stuck it on charge.

I've taken off the cell caps to let it breathe a bit, and it seems
quite noisy, with lots of nice fizzy action inside. Charger shows
    battery is currently empty.

Now, is it as simple as if it takes the charge and holds it, it's OK?
How could I tell if the batterys beyond it? Unless the VS battery is in
tip-top shape it just doesn't turn the engine over.

    Ta.

    worth a read.

Ta for that. Bit technical for an arse like me. I might just lick it
and see if I get a belt from it. 8^ )

OK, I'll read it. But I'm not promising I'll understand it, OK?

A time to recovery after discharge test is the only practical way but is
not really practical unless you know your battery technology and stuff.

  5. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Dave Jennings"
After it's been on charge for ages bubbling away, let it sit overnight
then switch on the headlight and start it next morning. If it copes with
that, it'll be ok for a while.
