Fender Eliminator - Legal?

I'm thinking about putting a fender eliminator on my bike. The license
plate will still have a place, but there is no room for the inspection
sticker. My inspection sticker currently resides on the rear fender under
the license plate (there's plenty of room for it).

So I'm wondering whether it's legal in Texas to put the inspection sticker
somewhere other than on the rear fender area? Does it have to be facing
rearwards (so cops can easily see it)? If it is legal to put the sticker
elsewhere, are there any guidelines as to where it can/should be put?

Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
