Much to my regret, I didn't get ot the district advisors meeting on
Saturday.. E-mails have been coming back to me, though..reporting the
meeting.. Seems like there was a decent turnout, in spite of the iffy
    weather..

TMRA II chairman, Sputnik has decided to go back to the legislature and
finish the much needed work due on the helmet law.. He's calling for the new
bill to be introduced in January.. Other states have passed bills to
re-instate their helmet laws .. and if Texas doesn't get ahead of the curve,
we could be next.. The general consensus is that if TMRA II slams
legislators with this Bill, they will get our message that Texas enjoys
    their right to choose..

Details of the Bill being proposed have not been made available to me, but I
am given to understand that it is being written to eliminate the
qualifications issues of medical insurance.. The underage requirement will
remain, but if you are over 18 years of age, you can ride without a helmet,
    period..

That will take away another law enforcement tool to indiscriminately stop
motorcyclists .. That's a good thing.. In addition to that benefit to us
all, our legislators will understand that motorcyclists in Texas are
prepared to oppose the helmet laws which are being imposed in other states..

The chairman has called for support of his efforts, engaging all bikers in
Texas to make their voices heard to their representatives.. Whether a member
of TMRA II, or not, motorcyclists are involved and will be affected by the
    passage of Bills concerning helmets..

I encourage everyone to participate and head off another helmet law being
    passed in Texas..
