Fazer tyres

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Sean Hamerton, Apr 18, 2007.

  1. Got an Avon Azaro on the front and a square BT020 on the rear. The
Azaro has loads left, and I've got a BT021 on order with National.

Question is, will I have any trouble with such a combination? It's
been riding just fine with the Azaro/BT020 combo.

Why didn't you order an Azaro to match the front? Nowadays I don't mix
tyres, it's a bit different now to when they were all concrete compound
and bike's handling didn't show up major changes in profile because they
    all handled like shit anyway.

You think it handles fine now, but it might handle significantly better
with an Azaro on the back.

  4. As it is, I may be coming to Derby with the 020. It's legal, and not
as square as it was, but the M1 will ruin it...

Just been practicing taking the back wheel off, as National only deal
with wheels taken off bikes, and the rear axle seems to be fused with
the caliper bracket. What with the bolt head of the axle being such a
low profile, we had a rght old time trying to get it off. Managed to
turn the axle WRT the bracket, but not by much. We stuffed loads of
Plusgas on it, and even tried applying heat, but we couldn't turn it
    far.

We're going to leave it to soak in some Plusgas dismantling lube
overnight and have another bash in the morning. And I do mean bash...

As for fitting an Azaro to the rear, I want 021s, but don't want to
shell out for the front right away as there's still life left in it.
When it wears out I'll have an 021 fitted, or sooner if the handling
    seems to 'go bad'.

  5. You need a Scotoiler. Gets the entire back of the bike greased up and
    free a treat they do.

You also need a working sig sep.

Why would you want 021s as opposed to Azaros?

I'd go for the Avon Storm-ST nowadays, it's replaced the Azaro.

They're the new Bridgestone equivelant to the new version of the Azaro's and
are "supposedly" grippier than the Avon's. Of course, every new tyre is
supposedly grippier than every other tyre ever made, so it means nowt.

  9. Coz I've had 020s on both my last bikes and they were fine and lasted
ages. Asince the 021s are replacing the 020s, they're the ones I
wanted. The front will be changed to match soon enough.

Azaros last longer and grip better, especially in the wet.
