At junctions I watch the front wheels, they move before the car does.
Although the spinning hub caps some cars have are a bastard and have
given me a few minor scares.

If you don't make proper eye contact with the driver at the junction he
will pull out. If you do make eye contact this changes to they might.

    No fucker believes us.

  2. Yup, I do that too. Brilliant indicator, that one.

(Just as well, because they never use them, either).

  3. Just got the cheque through from my insurers for the full value.
Unfortunately it's a CAT B write off so they'll not let me have the
bike back which is a shame. I still need to retrieve my keys and
whatever is under the seat and cheekily I've asked if I can have the
rear shock, bloody thing cost nearly £400 so it's got to be worth 50%
of that. I don't know if the salvage company will fall for it though.
Still ongoing with her insurers as I imagine it will be for a while
yet. The personal injury claim is going to roast them, I am still not
back to work[1] and Emily is still in plaster.

[1] Hence the increase in UKRM postings.

Sorry to hear that - is she house-bound?
It has been noticed and assumed to be so....

  5. She's at University since 2nd October. Struggling a bit because of the
injury, fortunately her college, her accommodation and the history
faculty are all within 200 metres. I've told her to take taxis as
necessary and to keep the receipts. The college were very helpful and
sorted her out ground floor accommodation and her tutors have offered
if necessary to rearrange supervisions etc to ground floor rooms if
    there's no lifts.

This is her 1st year at Uni? What a tough way to start... stil sounds
    like she's got good support.

Keep the receipts - but not just the taxi ones. Every expenditure related
to her injury should be kept and recorded. Also keep a diary of everything
relevant to the injury, when she had to take time off to go to the doctor,
when she couldn't go out because she was in to much pain etc.

You should be doing this too.
