These two bikes are incredibly popular in France. In fact, I'd say I saw
more of these bikes than any other while I was over there this year

sure, I like the look of the Griso thing, but it's too expensive. Maybe
    after another couple of payrises...

    This one, get this one.
My KTM's old and needs a lot of attention after four hours smashing it up in
    Enduro races.
But it always comes back for more. My uncle has the 400 4t andit's bomb
    proof.
The LC4 engine seems pretty reliable.
Jim Aim is a decent local dealer but may be a bit far for you.

I'm in NI this coming weekend, but the weekend after that I'll book a
    test ride.

I thought someone might find that amusing. However, I'm going to try
and get a test-ride the same day I try a Z1000 to see if there's any
    comparison.

what's wrong with the standard seat?

    [z750]
having read a lot of reviews of both bikes now, yes the 750 isn't much
slower than the thou, but the main area they seem to have compromised
on is the suspension. The 750 is significantly cheaper than the thou,
though, so it's to be expected.
thanks, but that's far too close to the Great Frozen North for me.

Your sunglasses are at my parents' place, btw. I could have brought
them to the pub the other week, but I thought you weren't going to be
    there.

no problem - I have 5 other pairs of sunglasses, just no Oakleys at the
moment. Set up a time with your Dad for me to leave the 400/four back
(and get a lift to the station); the first Saturday I'm going to be
free is the 22nd, but if it's easier for your old man, I can bring the
bike into work, and then knock off early-ish and get it to his place
    for mid afternoon.

Or, even better, I could run it over early one weekday and then just
    get the train into work.

    Basically, whatever suits your dad.

it is extremely fucking tempting (despite the fact no-one wants to
offer me more than about 3,400 for my blade as a trade-in)

    Test ride first, though.
